Northstar Desktop™
The primary interface used to access Northstar from any Mac, PC or supported computing device.

Hosted Applications
Northstar provides a replacement opportunity for applications you have running on computer servers. Northstar provides the compute power, management and support for these server applications while providing users with access through the Northstar Internet Desktop from any approved device.

Email
Northstar hosted email is accessible by subscribers from any computing device through an industry standard email client or via a secure Web page. The service supports smtp, pop, imap, ssl, spam filtering and mailing lists. Email boxes are limited to 10Mb.

File Sharing
File sharing provides each subscriber with a 2Gb network file server to store files and information securely. In addition to secure storage, backup and recovery benefits, file sharing can also be used to share files among groups of users. Northstar group file sharing provides a 5Gb network file server to a named group of subscribers that can be increased or decreased at any time.

Print Services
Northstar subscribers can print to directly attached printers and to printers of which the computer they are using is aware. In addition, network printers can be established that can be accessed while the subscriber is anywhere in the world.

Software Services
Northstar provides a library of personal computing and enterprise software available to subscribers on a subscription or pay-as-you-go basis. Using licensing arrangements with software vendors, Northstar reduces the cost of purchasing software while always providing the subscriber with the latest, most up-to-date version of the software available from any computer. Organizations that currently own software can have it installed in the Northstar network and made accessible to any Northstar subscriber from any convenient computing device. Northstar also can manage site licenses and provide usage reporting to software vendors on the organization’s behalf.

Additional Services
Northstar is designed to be accessed from any convenient computer — extending the useful life of technology an organization has already purchased. Organizations may select from a menu of Macintosh® and PC computers and laptops and approved printers to be included as part of the Northstar service. True North Technology also is in the process of rolling out voice services to our customers as part of the Northstar service, which will include telephone handsets and voicemail that is certified with the service.
